Why in-home sitting works well in Tokyo

Boarding a pet in Tokyo often means a long train or taxi ride, a small unfamiliar room, and a lot of stress for an animal that has never been anywhere else. In-home sitting removes all of that.

  • Your pet stays home. Same food, same litter box, same window. Nothing changes except that we visit.
  • No transport. Useful if you don’t have a car, or if your pet is elderly, anxious or difficult to move.
  • We take pets many hotels won’t. Rabbits, hamsters, birds, turtles and reptiles are all welcome.
  • You see everything. A message when we arrive, a message when we leave, and a written report with photos after every single visit.

What we do on each visit

  • Food preparation and fresh water
  • Cleaning litter boxes, cages and toilet areas
  • Play time
  • Walking and exercise (dogs)
  • Basic grooming, such as brushing
  • Photos, video clips and a written report by email or LINE

We can also take care of related things while we are there — adjusting the air conditioner, opening and closing curtains, watering plants on the balcony. Just ask.

We visit once to three times a day. Morning, midday and evening visits are all possible. We ask for at least one visit per day while you are away — automatic feeders are useful, but food jams, water spills, and a pet that has stopped eating are things we see in real life, and once every few days is too late to catch them.

Not on the list? Please ask — we will check whether we can reach you.

How it works

  1. Contact us with your dates, your pet’s type and size, your address (the neighbourhood is enough — a full address lets us check straight away whether we can reach you, and when we could come for the consultation), and anything we should know. We reply within three days.
  2. We confirm whether we can take the booking and get back to you.
  3. We arrange a consultation visit at a time that suits you. The consultation is for bookings you have decided to go ahead with, and getting it into the calendar is usually what decides the schedule.
  4. Consultation at your home. About 40 minutes, included in the price. We meet your pet, take detailed notes on feeding, toilet, habits, your vet and your emergency contact, look at what we need to use in your home, and receive your key. We issue a written key receipt. Two sitters normally come to this visit.
  5. Sitting days. Message on arrival → care → photos and a written report → message on leaving. We only enter the rooms agreed at the consultation, plus water facilities.
  6. Key returned and the key receipt collected when you are back.

For a first booking, please allow at least one week from your first message, since the consultation and key handover happen beforehand. Sometimes we can arrange things within a few days, but our calendar does fill up — especially around New Year, Obon and Golden Week — so the earlier you contact us, the better.

Your key, and your home

We issue a written receipt for your key. While we hold it, the key and your address are stored separately, so the two cannot be linked. You get a message every time we enter and leave, so you always know exactly when someone was in your home. We only enter the areas agreed in advance.

The sitter who comes on the day is always a sitter you met at the consultation. Nobody you have not met will let themselves into your home.
